Here you will find the opening hours of various Excursion destinations and the Mountain huts to your opinion.
Berchtesgaden National Park
Listen to the voices of birds, track down gentian and edelweiss or marvel at marmots and golden eagles: the national park administration offers hikes on various themes throughout the year. The programme includes excursions, group outings and experiences for the whole family.
Königssee and St. Bartholomä
Surrounded by mighty rock faces, it rests in one of the most impressive landscapes in Germany - emerald green and tranquil - in the centre of the Berchtesgaden National Park. The fjord-like lake is eight kilometres long, up to 1.2 kilometres wide and lies 602 metres above sea level. With a maximum depth of 192 metres, the water of Lake Königssee remains relatively cold even in midsummer.
The Berchtesgaden salt mine
On an excursion through the history of the earth, you will receive exciting information that you will not only learn about during the salt journey through time, but will also experience with all your senses thanks to effective stagings in the realm of fantasy.
Kehlsteinhaus - Eagle's Nest
A historic vantage point high above the Berchtesgadener Land: from the Eagle's Nest, visitors can enjoy an overwhelming panoramic view of up to 200 kilometres. It has been managed by the Berchtesgaden-Königssee tourist region since 1960 and is run by private tenants as a mountain restaurant.
Salzburg - Salzburger Land
From Stoll's Hotel Alpina, you can drive to Salzburg, the world-famous festival city, in about 25 minutes. Here you have the opportunity to get to know the small but beautiful Mozart city of Salzburg with its many elegant shops, squares, churches and castles. Here you will also find a number of museums worth visiting, for example the newly built Museum der Moderne on the Mönchsberg or the Haus der Natur, which also appeals to younger guests.
Not much further away on the Austrian side you will find some beautifully situated, romantic lakes, such as the Mondsee, Wallersee or Fuschlsee. All of these places can be easily reached within a day, for example with our bus operator friend Schwaiger, who not only organises day trips there, so you can leave your car in the garage and relax.

What is the name of the waterfall at Königssee and how do you get there?
There is not only the one waterfall at Königssee, but two famous natural spectacles that are best reached via a combination of boat trip and hike:
The Schrainbach Falls: This impressive waterfall plunges directly into the Königssee. The best way to reach it is to take the electric boat to St. Bartholomä and from there take a delightful 45-minute walk along the shore.
The Röthbach Falls: At 470 metres, this is the highest waterfall in Germany. Take the boat to the terminus Salet, walk along the picturesque Obersee to the Fischunkelalm and from there continue to the foot of the waterfall.
Schönau am Königssee is a paradise for nature lovers and culture vultures alike. In addition to the classic boat trips, the region offers countless possibilities:
Outdoor activities: The offer ranges from leisurely hikes (e.g. Malerwinkel) to challenging mountain tours in the national park and paragliding on the Jenner (Jennerbahn).
Tradition up close: The traditional Alpine cattle drive (when the cows return to the valley from the mountain pastures festively decorated) usually takes place between the end of September and the beginning of October, depending on the weather. The same applies to the local harvest and autumn festivals, which are closely linked to the farmers' autumn and the return of the animals. You can enquire about current dates at the hotel reception at any time!
The skyline of the Berchtesgadener Land is characterised by the imposing Berchtesgaden Alps. The highest and most famous mountain is the Watzmann with its striking main peak at 2,713 metres. Other well-known peaks that frame the valley are the Jenner (the ideal viewing mountain), the Hochkalter and the legendary Untersberg.
If you want to experience Bavarian tradition up close, you should visit the Alpine pasture drive arrive. When the cows return to the valley festively decorated (with so-called „Fuikl“) after the summer on the mountain pastures, this is celebrated extensively. Depending on the weather, this usually takes place between the end of September and the beginning of October.
